Originally from Quebec, Shawn Jobin moved to Saskatchewan as a teenager, where he discovered the realities of Western Canadian Francophone communities—an experience that would become a major source of inspiration. It is there that he grew both personally and artistically, shaped by the contrast between minority language identity and a strong desire for self-assertion.
For over a decade, Shawn Jobin has established himself as a multidisciplinary artist: rapper, beatmaker, music producer, DJ, and educator. Known for his sensitive yet clear-eyed writing, he stands out through deeply reflective lyrics and a sonic aesthetic that continues to evolve. While he may be less known to the general public, his community engagement is central to his practice. He works closely with youth in minority Francophone settings, particularly in Saskatchewan, where he leads writing and music creation workshops. Through this work, he promotes a living relationship with the French language, rooted in personal expression, linguistic pride, and artistic freedom.
Since the release of his EP Au nom d’une Nation (2013), Shawn has performed more than 300 concerts across Canada, France, Belgium, and Mexico. His debut album Éléphant (2017) marked a major milestone, earning recognition from both audiences and industry professionals in Canada and abroad. The project opened the door to lasting collaborations, particularly in Europe. These exchanges led to Distance (2021), an introspective and musically bold album. For the first time, Shawn fully assumed the role of producer, asserting a strong artistic direction at the intersection of rap, electronic music, and singer-songwriter traditions.
Today, he continues this exploration toward an even more electronic sound, drawing from house and techno influences while keeping writing at the core of his approach. Alongside his artistic projects, Shawn Jobin remains an active contributor to Franco-Canadian youth communities, in Saskatchewan and beyond.
